Manuka is a flowering tea tree native to New Zealand. The honey that is collected from these flowers has long been renowned for its remarkable beneficial properties.
Manuka Honey contains special antibacterial properties including an enzyme that produces Hydrogen Peroxide which is a proven antiseptic and antibacterial agent.
It is extremely rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals and has the outstanding ability to nourish, soothe and heal sensitive skin.
Manuka Honey also contains antioxidants that neutralise free radicals which are responsible for skin cell damage; while assisting in the growth of new cells, and tissue regeneration.

Manuka Certification
Honey naturally contains pollen in the nectar of the plants that it’s collected from. This pollen falls into the nectar which is then collected by the bees and taken back to their hive and made into honey.
This pollen can be counted, and the honey identified by isolating the percentage composition of the target species type within a honey relative to its’ total pollen count; which are then matched against pre-determined pollen count thresholds for different honeys.
While there may never be an absolute single flower (monofloral) honey type, a honey is considered to be relatively pure when it is found to predominantly have a genetic composition of a particular pollen type.
Under new Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) guidelines, for Manuka Honey to be classified as a monofloral, it must contain a level of greater than 70% Manuka Pollen.
