It was Robert Tisserand's mother who first introduced him to aromatherapy, leading to a passion for the subject that continues to this day. After years of studying and practising as a massage therapist and healer, he started the Aromatic Oil Company in 1974 from his bedroom in a South London house.
The product range has expanded enormously since its humble beginnings, but what continues to matter is the enhancement of people's well-being. This is what drives the companies commitment to keep on delivering outstanding products based on ethical aromatherapy principles, and it is this quest for the best that has stood the test of time.
Tisserand are constantly updating and improving their formulas, sourcing and using new ingredient alternatives that are kind to the skin and, wherever possible, organic and so kinder to the environment.
NO SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES - only pure essential oils and absolutes.
NO SLS/SLES - only cleansing and foaming agents, such as ALS, which is derived from coconut oil and free from petrochemicals, to deliver mild foam that is kind to the skin.
NO PARABENS -The alternatives used are just as effective in terms of microbiological/challenge testing, but are often milder to the skin.
NO ANIMAL INGREDIENTS - including lanolin or beeswax. Products and ingredients are not tested on animals by the company or on their behalf. They are certified by the Vegan Society.
NO INGREDIENTS CONSIDERED UNSOUND - phthalates, formaldehyde, petrochemicals (such as mineral oil, paraffin and petrolatum), propylene glycol, aluminium compounds, triclosan, BHA, methyldibromoglutaronitrile, triethanolamine, DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea and quaternium-15.
